Cleaning tip: Stone sealed & look hazy

Cleaning tip for a day: Stone cleaning & Sealing projects.

Problem: A customer cleaned and sealed ceramic tile floor (semi polished surface) with penetrating impregnator sealer (2 coats, natural look sealer) and the floor looks hazy.

Possible cause: Applied sealer and did not wipe off the residue right away.

Proper instructions to apply impregnator sealer in most cases are: Apply a nice thin coat of sealer with proper applicator recommended by the manufacturer or also can use microfiber applicator. After applying the sealer, you must wipe off the residue within 2-3 minutes with a clean lintless towel (regular T-shirt works well) or if you have a buffer machine and you are working on a large open area, you can also run the buffer with white pad to remove the residue.

Solution: Dilute neutral cleaner that you would use for daily mopping on a sealed floor about 10 to 12 oz per gallon of water in a mop bucket. Mop a small area at a time and let it sit for 5 minutes. Then scrub the floor with a red color pad.

Rinse floor and let it dry. After floor is dry, then buff the floor with either bonnet pad or white pad whichever you have. This should remove the haziness off the floor.
